Join the Dakota County Historical Society, in partnership with the Friends of the Sibley Historic Site and the French-American Heritage Foundation, as we celebrate the Fête de la Saint-Jean-Baptiste!

June 23rd is the celebration of the French-Canadian holiday of the Festival of Jean Baptiste. St. John the Baptist (Jean Baptiste) is the patron saint of Canada. French-Canadian descendants, and those who just appreciate how French-Canadians know how to have a good time, will gather at the Jean Baptiste Faribault House in Mendota, Minn.

Jean Baptiste Faribault was named for his homeland's patron saint and was an early fur trader in Mendota.

The French-American Heritage Foundation members will take us back in time when everyone in Mendota spoke French-Canadian. There will be a special presentation and live music throughout the event. Wine and light snacks will also be included in the price of admission.
