Join the Dakota County Historical Society and professional genealogist Elizabeth Williams Gomoll for "Emigrating is Hard, Migrating is also Hard: Immigrant Settlement in the American Midwest."
Please note, this is a hybrid program. When registering, please select whether you are a member, or non-member, as well as if you plan to attend in person or virtually.
To understand an ancestor's motivation to leave behind everything familiar and immigrate to the United States, and then migrate within the U.S., we must ask several questions. Why emigrate and then migrate within America? Why then? Why that place? What could go wrong? What if the trail has gone cold? This program will help you attempt to answer some of these questions.
Elizabeth Williams Gomoll, CG, is president of the Association of Professional Genealogists Northland Chapter, serves as a director for the Minnesota Genealogical Society, and is co-editor of the Minnesota Genealogist. Liz has received seven awards for her writing and society activities. She researches and lectures as Red Bird Genealogy Services. She played the flute and piccolo professionally, holds a private pilot license, and is "Nana" to eleven grandchildren.
