Welcome to the Dakota County Historical Society Online Museum Shop. We exclusively use PayPal for our e-commerce needs. PayPal is a trusted name in e-commerce and many people are familiar with how it works. It is also an inexpensive solution that allows us to have a reliable online store. Some key things you need to know about shopping at the DCHS Museum Shop are:

* When you are in the Main Store and add an item to the Shopping Cart, a window will open to PayPal's Secure Server showing you the contents of the cart. You don't need to close the window to continue shopping. Even if you do the items in the cart will be "remembered" so long as you have authorized PayPal to set a "cookie" file.

* Once you have finished shopping simply click on the "Checkout" button in the PayPal window. Make sure that the URL/address bar begins with "https" (note the "s") before entering any credit card or financial information!

* There are some items that have "Buy Now!" of "Donate" buttons. These are "Single Click Purchase" items that do not go into a shopping cart. If you click on them the PapPal Checkout window will open asking you for your credit card information. If you are planning to purchase multiple items the "Main Store" page with the shopping cart may be a better option. Most of the "Single Click Purchase" items are also available in the Main Store, with the exception of "Donation" items (which are not compatible with the shopping cart because YOU set the dollar amount).

* You do NOT need to have a PayPal account in order to purchase items from us. You only need a valid credit card or the ability to make an Electronic Funds Tranfer (EFT) from a checking account.

* If you prefer, you can print out your PayPal shopping cart and mail it with a personal check or money order. You should call one of the numbers below for shipping and handling rates first, as they will not be included in the amounts listed on the PayPal shopping cart page (unless you proceeded all the way through checkout but then cancelled the order or could not proceed, in which case they will be listed below the purchase price). We do not recommend you pay with cash or send us your credit card information through the postal service. The Dakota County Historical Society accepts no liablity for lost or stolen orders or information sent through the mail.
