The following pages feature educational activities and materials developed by the Dakota County Historical Society and over 60 educators representing nine area school districts and several private schools who graciously offered their perspectives to make this initiative possible. These materials were designed for use with children in grades two through six in mind.

FOR KIDS
FOR TEACHERS

Great games and activities await!

Features handouts and activities for fieldtrip and classroom use. In recognition of the fact not every classroom or student has access to a computer there are also downloadable and printer friendly versions of most of the content in the "For Kids" section.

Additionally there are review questions that may be used in conjunction with the "For Kids" activities (either online or offline) and tips for teachers on how to integrate some of the content provided here into the curriculum. While these materials were designed with educators and students in Dakota County as the primary audience, much of the content could be used by educators elsewhere as well.

The education section of the Dakota County History web site was initially created by Robin Boe and Steve Werle with community support provided by American Legion Post 424 of Inver Grove Heights, Burnsville Lions Club, Rosemount Jaycees, West St. Paul Commercial Club and the Fred E. Lawshe Memorial Fund. Activities format redesign and character development by Kristiana Hansen. All materials are copyrighted and may not be sold or included in any collection offered for sale without express written permission from the Dakota County Historical Society. They may be transmitted or reproduced in print or electronic form free of charge ONLY for personal use or direct use by educators..
