Modern Interpretations of Historic Designs
LeDuc Historic Estate
Through November 1, 2009

The much-anticipated "Modern Interpretations of Historic Designs" exhibit opened on June 27. Guests will see the results of a year-long competition featuring artist's interpretations of patterns designed by Alice LeDuc for the Hastings Needlework Company.

Throughout the season, guests will be able to view eautiful original pieces created by 22 artists plus a special display of original LeDuc textiles on loan from the Minnesota Historical Society.

 

 

Vermillion Falls River Walk at LeDuc
LeDuc Historic Estate
First Saturdays

On the first Saturday of the months of June, July, August, September and October, there will be a special walking tour of the Vermillion Falls area. The first of these tours will be June 6, 10:00 a.m. and will depart from the Estate at that time.

Participants will enjoy an historic walking tour of Hastings' most beautiful park, just blocks from the Estate. They will learn how the Vermillion River and the milling industry shaped Hastings while taking in the natural beauty of the river and falls.

Tour rates are the same as at the Estate ($6 for adults; $5 for seniors and military personnel; $3 for students up to age 18; and children ages 5 and younger and members of Dakota County Historical Society free) or visitors may purchase a discount package for $10 (for adults) which includes a tour of both the Estate and the walking tour. Reservations are recommended call 651-437-7055.

 

Free School Tour Program
LeDuc Historic Estate
Year-Round

Experiential learning is alive and well at LeDuc Historic Estate and the Dakota County Historical Society. All Minnesota educators are encouraged to participate in this free program. Guides can provide standard tours or work with teachers to develop a tour or visit that meets the needs of any classroom.

School tours may be scheduled any time of year by calling 651-437-7055 or by e-mail at leduc@co.dakota.mn.us. The Free School Tour program is sponsored in part by the Friends of LeDuc of Historic Hastings. To become a sponsor please call Chad Roberts at 6751-552-7548.

LeDuc Book Group
First Thursday of every month, 6:30 PM, LeDuc Historic Estate
Through a partnership with Pleasant Hill Library in Hastings, Librarian Allan Cotter will lead the group which will meet on the first Thursday each month at LeDuc This Business of War, William LeDuc's memoirs, is the first selection. The LeDuc was designed to invite nature indoors and the beautiful 4.5 acre site obliges - the grounds includes a strolling woods, heirloom apple orchard, grape arbor, peony garden, 200 year old oak trees and is near the scenic Vermillion Falls park.

The Estate can be rented for your special occasion! Meetings can be held for $50, parties and events start at $150, and weddings start at $650. Indoor events are limited to 50 people.
