| The Dakota County Historical
Society (DCHS) collects certain information from users, and we would
like to explain the types of information we gather and what we do
with it. We do not sell any personal information to third
parties.
Cookies*
Currently the DCHS web site does not set any cookie files. However,
if you plan to purchase anything through our web site our e-commerce
service provider, PayPal, does set cookies to track items being
added to the shopping cart across multiple pages. Please also read
the Privacy statement for our
online store and visit www.PayPal.com
to view their privacy and terms of use if you are concerned about
purchasing items online.
Server Log Data
Our web hosting provider collects server log data which may include
an IP address, the type of browser and operating system used, the
time of day visited, the pages viewed, and search requests. This
data may be aggregated and used for statistical purposes, helping
us to ascertain, for example, the amount of interest in portions
of our web site, and how to optimize the navigation and content
of our web site for delivery to different web browsers.
E-mail
Personally identifying information that you provide by e-mail or
web forms will be used only for such purposes as are described at
the point of collection (for example, on a web form), such as to
send information to you, or to respond to your questions or comments.
Links to Other Sites
Our web site has links to many other web sites. When you go to another
site, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of that
site. DCHS cannot attest to the accuracy of information provided
there.
Children and Privacy
DCHS promise to collect only limited information from children,
and only that which is voluntarily provided by the child, parent,
or legal guardian. There is a section of our web site aimed at second
to sixth grade children featuring games and activities. NONE of
that content collects information on children or tracks their usage
of our site. We have also removed the e-commerce buttons from the
sidebar in that section as we feel it would be inappropriate to
solicit children for donations or memberships.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
DCHS reserves the right to change the policy on use of information
collected. Any changes in policy will be noted in a revised privacy
policy statement and will be posted at least 30 days prior to implementation.
You may direct any privacy policy questions to the contact information
