At
41 ft x 46 ft., this is the world's largest map
of Dakota County. It features many of the County's
historic sites like the Gopher Ordnance Works, Sibley
House and the Miesville Baseball Park. The floor
mural was created in 1989 for the 50th anniversary
of the Society by artists John Acosta, Jose Lopez,
and Carlos Menchaca.
The
wall mural represents many significant scenes from
Dakota County's rich heritage. Included in the scene
are the Hastings Sprial Bridge, Stockyards Exchange
Building, a Dakota Indian Village and St. Peter's
Church in Mendota. The wall mural was produced in
1982 by artists John Acosta and Carlos Menchaca.
