Gain a hands-on understanding of the demands and challenges
of working at a South Saint Paul meatpacking plant in the 1940s that would
eventually lead to a major strike by 100,000 employees nationwide.
The County's residents, rural and urban alike,
were not spectators of the vents of the Twentieth Century - they were
active participants. This exhibit provides a portrait of individuals,
communities, and a time that frames our present.
A variety of twentieth century events are
part of this dispaly, from agriculture and transporation to immigration
and schools. War and the home front is another thought-provoking element
of this exhibit.
The 100 years of history are also represented
chronologically along the entire east wall of the Museum's Great Hall,
providing highlights of many events, people and places.
