Chimney Rock

About 7 miles south of Hastings, Chimney Rock in Marshan Township was a largely-visited 40-foot high chimney shaped sandstone outcropping rising above the wooded prairie in section 31. As described in 1905, Chimney Rock "is the most picturesque and perfect exmaple of a columnar rock weathering in Minnesota."

It served as a guide post for early settlers and travelers in the area.
