Hastings Reads is a program that encourages readers—ages 5 to adult—to read and share ideas about one book chosen especially for them. Pick up a copy of one of the books and join us this February to explore the Civil War through reenactment, film, book discussion and theater.

State Representative Dean Urdahl will present on his book on the 1862 Dakota Conflict.
Lois Glewwe, contributor to Minnesota's Trail of Tears: The Dakota Indian Exile Begins, will be on hand to discuss her research.

Tea Tasting

Enjoy a tea tasting adventure! Sample the world's oldest beverage and some edibles while learning about different varieties of tea in a delightful setting. Optional tour of the LeDuc house following the tasting.

Vermillion Falls Walking Tour
Saturday, May 5, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., $6 per person
Departs from the LeDuc Historic Estate

Combine your interest in history with your love of the Minnesota outdoors in springtime! Take a guided walk with a DCHS staff member to learn more about how the Vermillion River and milling industry shaped the early history and settlement of Hastings. Bird watchers be sure to bring along your binoculars for this tour through Hastings' most scenic park.
